Terms of use
What you agree to when you read Spatia, what you can do with what you find here, and where we draw the line on what we are responsible for.
Effective September 30, 2026. This page is published for transparency about how we run the site. It is not legal advice.
Who this agreement is with
These terms are an agreement between you and STUDIO DID IT, a company based in British Columbia, Canada, which publishes Spatiaat spatia.world. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean STUDIO DID IT, and “the site” means spatia.world and everything published on it. They took effect on September 30, 2026.
Accepting these terms
By using the site you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the site. Nothing here requires you to make an account or pay us anything to read.
Who can use the site
The site is written for adults making decisions about their own homes. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, and at least 18 to subscribe to our newsletter or post a reader note. The site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
What you may do with the site
You have a personal, non exclusive, revocable licence to read the site, to print or save a page for your own use, and to link to any page or quote a short passage with credit and a link back. That is the whole of it. The licence is for your own use, not for republication or resale, and we can withdraw it if you break these terms.
What we own, and what we only licence
The writing, the page designs, the code, the Spatia name and the Spatia logo belong to STUDIO DID IT or to the people who made them for us. All rights we do not grant above, we keep.
Not every image on the site is ours. Some photographs are licensed from stock libraries, and a licence is not ownership. We cannot pass those images on to you, and the stock licences we hold do not let anyone lift the images out of our pages to use elsewhere. Illustrative room images we generate ourselves are described in our editorial policy. If you want to reuse anything from the site beyond a short quote, ask us first at workplace@studiodidit.com.
What you may not do
- Republish a post in full, or rewrite it closely enough that it stands in for the original.
- Scrape, crawl at a rate that burdens the site, bulk download, or use any automated tool to harvest our pages or images, except for search engine crawlers we allow in robots.txt.
- Use our content to train machine learning models. You may not use any text, image or other material from this site as training, fine tuning or retrieval data for a machine learning model, or to build a dataset for that purpose, without our written permission.
- Frame the site, strip our name from it, or present it as your own work.
- Interfere with the site or its security, probe it for vulnerabilities, or try to reach parts of it that are not public.
- Use the site for anything unlawful, or to harass, impersonate or mislead anyone.
What you send us
Two parts of the site take text from you: the newsletter signup, and the reader notes and reactions under our posts. Anything you type into either is a submission, and this is what happens to it.
- You keep ownership. A note you write stays yours. You give us a non exclusive, worldwide, royalty free licence to display, store, reproduce and quote it on the site and in our own promotion of the site, including in the newsletter, for as long as the site runs. You can ask us to remove a note at any time.
- You confirm it is yours to give. By posting, you confirm the words are your own, that you are not posting someone else’s copyrighted text or private information, and that the note is not unlawful, abusive or deliberately false.
- We can remove anything, and we do not pre read everything. We may edit, hide or delete a note, or block an account, without notice and for any reason. We do not review notes before they appear, and a note that stands is not a note we endorse. Advice from another reader is that reader’s opinion, not ours.
- Do not post anything sensitive. Reader notes are public. Do not put your address, your phone number or anything you would not want indexed into one.
- Copyright complaints. If a note or an image on the site infringes your copyright, write to workplace@studiodidit.com with the page address, what the material is, and enough detail for us to find it. We remove material that infringes.
What we do with the personal information attached to a submission, an email address or a display name, is covered in the privacy policy.
Links, advertising and other people’s sites
We link out constantly, to manufacturers, standards bodies, retailers and other publications. We do not control any of them. A link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for what those sites contain, charge, sell or do with your data.
The site carries third party advertising, including Google AdSense. We do not choose or review individual ads, and an ad appearing next to a post says nothing about what we think of the product. If you buy something from an advertiser or a retailer we mention, that transaction is between you and them, including its price, its delivery and its returns. Our disclaimer sets out how we are paid and where we have an interest of our own.
The site is provided as is
The site and everything on it are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non infringement.
In plainer words: we work hard on the guides, and we still do not promise that a price is current, that a product is still made, that a measurement fits your room, that a method suits your local building code, or that the site will be available without interruption. Read the disclaimer before you act on anything here, particularly anything touching electrical work, ventilation, combustion appliances or money.
The limit of our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, STUDIO DID IT is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost data, property damage, personal injury or cost of substitute services, arising out of your use of the site or your reliance on anything published here.
Where we are liable, our total liability to you for all claims taken together is limited to one hundred United States dollars. Some places do not allow these exclusions or limits, and nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be waived, including liability for fraud, for wilful misconduct, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence where the law does not permit that to be excluded.
Indemnity
If your use of the site, or something you post to it, leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses, costs and legal fees in dealing with it. This applies to claims that arise from your breach of these terms, from something you posted, or from your infringement of someone else’s rights. We will tell you about such a claim and give you a fair chance to take it on.
Governing law and where disputes go
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict of laws rules, and any dispute about them or about the site goes to the courts of British Columbia. If you are a consumer, your own country or state may give you a right to bring a claim locally or to rely on your local consumer law, and this clause does not take that away.
Claims are brought individually. You and we each agree not to bring a claim as a class action or in a representative capacity, to the extent the law where you live allows that agreement. Before filing anything, write to workplace@studiodidit.com and give us 30 days to sort it out. Most complaints turn out to be fixable by editing a page.
Changes, and ending your use of the site
We can change, move or retire any part of the site, and we can stop publishing at any time. We can also end your access to the newsletter or to reader notes if you break these terms.
When we change these terms, we post the new version here and change the effective date at the top. For a change that materially affects your rights, we will say so on this page and, if you subscribe, in the newsletter. Using the site after a change means you accept the new version, so the date at the top is worth a glance.
The rest
If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, that part is narrowed or dropped and the rest still stands. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later. These terms, together with the privacy policy and the disclaimer, are the whole agreement between us about the site. You cannot transfer your rights under them; we may transfer ours if the site or the company changes hands.
Contact
Questions about these terms, permission requests and legal notices all go to workplace@studiodidit.com, or through the contact page. A person reads that address.
